Hood reclaim top spot
Robin Hood returned to the top of the Commercial league the easy way at the weekend after picking up a default win over North Village Rams who failed to muster a side while MR Onions drop to second after a 0-0 draw with BAA.
A combination of difficult conditions, a heavy pitch and over-officious refereeing prevailed while Onions and BAA slugged it out in a dour midfield battle.
BAA, playing with the wind in the first half, enjoyed the better possession with the lively Martin Jones seeing a lot of the ball and striker Dave Gibbs proving to be a handful.
Clear cut chances were at a premium however and, with the exception of some well-delivered set pieces, the Onions defence was relatively untroubled.
The roles were reversed in the second half as the Onions benefited from the strong breeze but despite controlling possession and having the territorial advantage they were unable to put their opponents under concerted pressure.
Eoghan O'Dwyer twice stung the palms of the BAA keeper with good strikes and substitute David Martin might have done better with a headed chance, but other than that a draw always seemed to be the likely result.
Lobster Pot are fourth after hammering hapless Prospect/Fire 6-0.
Veteran Colin James headed home a Torriano Trott cross after 15 minutes. Kevin Ronaldson began his hat-trick with a close range finish after 30 minutes.
Thomas McMahon struck from distance in the second half while Tinashe Chigwande finished off a well delivered through-ball from Rob Mahadeo before Ronaldson wrapped it up with a tap in and an effort from outside the box in the last 20 minutes.
Tuff Dogs beat Key West Rangers 3-1. Adam Griffith opened the scoring when he slammed home his own rebound.
Key West pulled one back through Roddy Lewis and it remained 1-1 at the half. After the break Aaron Brown scored directly from a free-kick from the right side of the box. Brown made it 3-1 when he beat the last defender and then the keeper before tapping into an empty net.
PHC Raiders pick up three points after Dandy Town Roots were unable to muster a side while in the B Division Group One St. David's also picked up a win against Boulevard in a make-up game.
In Commercial B Group Two Dockyard Falcons drew 3-3 with Pest Control. Scorers names were not available.
