Dandy Town striker Lynn Tucker praised his team's spirit displayed as they saw off Boulevard in their opening Dudley Eve game at Devonshire Rec. last night.

Goals from Tucker, Sakai Tuzo and Rico Wells paced the side the victory, while Blazers can thank goalkeeper Shejuan Swan for keeping the score down to just three goals.

Hornets were also reduced to ten men when Seion Darrell was sent off in the second half.

"It was a good team effort, everyone worked hard today and it paid off," said Tucker.

In a first half that was dominated by Town, Tucker struck in the fourth minute to give his side the early lead.

Having no warm up prior to kick off, Blazers took 20 minutes to get into the match, but Temiko Wilson caused a few problems for Treadwell Gibbons in goal for Town. Tuzo and Ricky Saltus all went close, but saves from Swan kept the score to 1-0 at the break.

It wasn't until the second half that Town turned on the flair with Tuzo ghosting by his marker on the flank before slipping the ball past Swan with ease.

Nine minutes later, Wells made the points safe when he beat his marker on the touch line and slammed his effort past Swan.

Somerset Eagles 1

Devonshire Cougars 1

Kwame Steede cancelled out a Darrin Dowling strike as Somerset Eagles and Devonshire Cougars played to a draw in both sides opening Group B game.

Eagles came out with a lot of industry early and were rewarded for the endeavour in the 27th minute when Dowling let fly a 30-yard effort that bounced before beating goalkeeper Che Clarke at his near post.

Cougars were clearly second best for the better part of the first half, but their fortunes would turn with the introduction of Tumani Steede early in the second half.

The Steede's would be the ones to unlock the hard working Eagles back line in the 69th.

Tumani beat the offside with a diagonal run and cut the ball back sharply for Kwame to slot home. With both teams willing to throw caution to the wind, the match opened up, although no one had the cutting edge to grab all three points.
