NAMED AND SHAMED

The fate of the alleged 'bad boys' of Bermuda cricket will be determined over two evenings next week when nine cricketers – three from Western Stars – will appear before Bermuda Cricket Board's Disciplinary Committee.

Hearings have been scheduled for Monday and Tuesday to deal with those involved in a series of unsavoury incidents witnessed at three matches last weekend, and the committee will also deal with players who are alleged to have breached the international code of conducted in previous games.

The BCB said on Thursday night they deplored "the acts of violence and player indiscipline that occurred at a number of games on Sunday 12 July, 2009," indicating that those guilty could face lengthy bans.

Following are those summoned and the charges they face:

Treadwell Gibbons Jr. (Western Stars)

Level 4 – three counts of physical assault of another player, umpire, referee, official or spectator.

Level 2 – two counts of using language that is offensive, obscene or of a generally insulting nature to an umpire, player or spectator.

Level 1 – one count of abuse of ground equipment.

Detroy Smith (YMSC)

Level 4 – one count of act of violence on the field of play.

Level 4 – one count of physical assault of an umpire.

Level 3 – four counts of intimidation of an umpire by language or conduct.

Level 2 – one count of showing serious dissent of an umpire's decision by action or verbal abuse.

Level 2 – one count of use of language that is obscene, offensive or of a generally insulting nature to an umpire.

Ricardo Brangman Sr. (Devonshire Rec.)

Level 4 – one count of physical assault of another player, umpire, referee or spectator.

Level 3 – one count of a threat of assault on another player, official or spectator.

Khiry Furbert (Western Stars)

Level 3 – two counts of threat of assault of another player.

Level 1 – one count of showing dissent at umpire's decision by action or verbal abuse.

Justin Robinson (Western Stars)

Level 2 – one count of using language that is obscene, offensive or generally insulting to another player.

Level 2 – one breach of code, as captain of the team, allowing his players to bring the game into disrepute and causing abandonment of the game by failing to control his team.

Calvin Dill (Bailey's Bay)

Level 2 – two counts of deliberate and malicious distraction or obstruction in the field of play.

Level 2 – two counts of using language that is obscene, offensive or of an insulting nature to an umpire.

Chris Fleming (Leg Trappers)

Level 2 – one count of using language that is obscene, offensive or of a generally insulting nature to another player.

Mackie Crane (Devonshire Rec.)

Level 4 – one count of physical assault of an umpire.

Kevin Hurdle (YMSC)

Level 2 – one breach of code that, as captain of the team, allowing his player to bring the game into disrepute.
