New-boys Village make winning start
Tuff Dogs 4
MR Onions 2
Braces from Lamaul Crofton and Marcel Dill gave league champions Tuff Dogs a win over MR Onions in their first match of the new season.
They started sluggish, though, and were made to pay early on when Keston Lewis stripped a Dogs defender and slotted home to give Onions the lead.
At half-time, Dogs coach Wendall Furbert changed his entire midfield with the momentum turning and it wasn't long before Lamaul Crofton equalised.
Marcel Dill made amends for an earlier miss by putting the Dogs in the lead for the first time.
Crofton then extended the lead with Dogs seemingly cruising to victory until Gavin Thomason brought Onions back within one goal with a thunderous effort from the edge of the area.
It wasn't to be for Onions, however, as Dill sealed the victory in injury-time after a fine ball from Carlos Moniz.
North Village 4
Valley FC 1
Corona League new-boys North Village opened their first season in the league with a comfortable win over Valley FC.
Tilman Darrell opened the scoring for Village but was quickly cancelled out by Troy Simmons. Village then regained the lead through Stephen Coddington before ex-Manchester City ace Shaun Goater got his name on the scoresheet.
Veteran Nakia Smith then capped off a fine performance to make it 4-1.
Lobster Pot 4
Team Fire 2
Henry Santucci scored a hat-trick on debut as Lobster Pot beat Team Fire.
Luis Rocha calmly slotted the ball past Fire's keeper after he miskicked the ball straight to the Lobster Pot man.
Fire got one back when a long range effort passed the outstretched arms of keeper Ward.
Justin Robinson levelled matters midway through the first-half before Santucci strolled up to make it 2-1 just before the interval.
Fire did not give up though and a nifty move by striker Irving Burgess saw him beat Pot defender Steve Palmer and fire home from close range.
But Pot regained the lead with two more goals from Santucci.
Lock and Key FC 2
St. David's 0
Marlon Dill and Jamal Boyles got Lock 'N' Key FC, formerly known as Prison Officers, off to a winning start against St. David's.
Dill opened the scoring with by curling in a free-kick from 20 yards midway through the first half. Boyles scored in the dying stages, slipping his effort past the advancing 'keeper to seal the points.
West End United 1
Robin Hood 1
Robin Hood held knockout champions West End United to a draw. Eugene Simmons put United ahead in the first half but his effort was cancelled out midway through the second half by Rayman Butterfield.
Vasco 5
BAA 2
Vasco had five different goal scorers as they won their opening match against BAA.
Milton Ferreira put Vasco up with a strike from just outside the box.
However, the lead was short-lived as some slack defending put BAA up mid-way through the first period.
But goals from Ricardo Arruda and Quincy Aberdeen with a header enabled Vasco to regain the lead at the half-time.
Substitutes Marvin Belboda and Rui Sebastiao also scored in the second half to kill off any hopes of a BAA revival.
