Nisbett remains upbeat after difficult first day
Bermuda showjumper Patrick Nisbett and Cantaro 32 had a mixed ride at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky on Tuesday with their round accumulating 12 jumping faults.
The pair had rails down on the first obstacle in the triple combination, the very last obstacle in the course and also at the water jump.
Nisbett was due to ride again in the third qualifier for the individual and final team competition yesterday.
Today will see the top 30 ranked riders compete for individual medals with the best four competitors then doing battle in the Rolex Top Four competition on Saturday.
Nisbett said on Tuesday: "On the one hand it was disappointing really, but we have to keep things in perspective.
"The things that went wrong were due to (Cantaro's) inexperience. Today's track was demanding and I think that was reflected in the results."
Heidi Mello, chef d'equipe, had a more positive take on Nisbett and Cantaro's performance.
"I'm super pleased with Cantaro; he's a young horse in his first year of Grand Prix competition.
"This ring brings the spectators close to the rail, there were new fences introduced.
"The main thing I'm really pleased with is that Patrick rode to the plan in his shapes, turns and distances."
