Queen's rebound with shutout win
Bermuda's National team when they trounced a disorganised and lacklustre Second Team Select 43-0 yesterday afternoon.
Led by some excellent play from two-try heroes, Nate Lampart, Ben Andrews and Scott Wells, Queen's scored at will after a mediocre start.
Lampart scored his first try after 23 minutes when he collected a ball from a scrum five yards away from the Select try line and steamrolled in.
Ten minutes later Andrews gave his side a comfortable 10-0 lead when he capitalised on a poor attempted clearance by James Adderly.
Queen's next try came early in the second half, after some excellent passing and running between Matt Querre and Scott Wells set up winger Chris Stuart.
Querre added the conversion making the score 17-0.
Scott Wells and Lampart added ten more points with a try each.
Lampart's try was perhaps the best of the tour so far. Queen's were awarded a penalty on the right some 12 yards from the Select try line. Lampart took the ball and proceeded to run straight over each Select player that dared to cross his path.
Andrews and Wells scored one each to end the rout.
Tomorrow, the vice president's XV will take on Queen's for their third and final game.
The Bermuda team has been strengthened tremendously by the addition of Gareth Davies, Phil Heaney, and Ali Nicholl, all of whom are trying to secure a place in the National team if they can succeed in attaining match fitness after injuries sustained earlier in the season.
Vice-President's XV roster: Neil Alexander, Clive Parker, Rob Cortez, Des Nash, Alan Gorbutt, Henry Simpson, Dave Bird, Ali Nicholl (captain), Gareth Davies (vice captain,) Phil Heaney, Sean Kelly, Danny Soares, Tom Dickson, Patrick Jones, Gavin Corcoran.
