Rangers 20/20 appeal rejected

BERMUDA Cricket Board have confirmed media reports that as a result of their failure to show up to the Lindos Twenty20 third-place match against Baileys Bay, Southampton Rangers have now been banned from taking part in the 2010 Twenty20 season.

Rangers appealed the suspension but, noting that insufficient grounds of appeal were given, the decision to ban the club was upheld by the BCB Executive Committee this week.

n Three local cricket umpires have passed the 2009 West Indies Cricket Umpire Association's (WICUA) written exam and are now eligible to take the oral and practical exams in December, 2010.

Oscar Andrade, James McKirdy and Sean Smith all passed their WICUA exams and are now just one step away from securing full qualification.

Bermuda Cricket Board president Reginald Pearman said: "Congratulations to James, Oscar and Sean on passing their written exams.

"The quality of umpiring in Bermuda is becoming better and better.

"I wish them the best of luck on completing the remaining parts of the WICUA qualification in 2010."
