Rangers put on a show

Som. Bridge 41 Somerset Bridge were given something to think about ahead of their second round Western Counties tie with Southampton Rangers on August 10 when they were skidded out for just 41 in 15.2 overs in First Division Overs competition at White Hill field on Sunday.

Rangers only needed to use two bowlers to complete their victory with Carl Garzette claiming four for 21 and Garry Williams five for 17 as Bridge crumbled to their lowest total of the season.

Bridge managed to restrict Rangers to 184-8 off 43 overs with David Jones taking three for 32 and Francis Richardson and Denzil Dill two for 23 and two 39 respectively. Somerset 31, Warwick 35-0 Somerset Cricket Club suffered an even more humiliating defeat when they were thrashed by 10 wickets by Warwick at Southampton Oval.

Only managing to field seven players, Somerset reached 31 in 9.4 overs -- the lowest total by any team this season -- as Steven Bremar claimed three for 27 and Quinton Sherlock Jr. two for 4.

Daniel Caines (13) and Jeffrey James (14) reached the total in just 4.4 overs.

Flatts 180, PHC 136 Kevin Hurdle and Troy Dean formed a two-man demolition team to defeat PHC by 44 runs.

Dean led the Flatts batting with 42 while Hurdle's 32 in the tailend enabled them to recover from 118-8 to reach 180. Hurdle put on 46 for the ninth wicket with Gerald Sims (18 not out) to frustrate PHC.

Neil Anglin ws the best of the PHC bowlers with three for 38 while Cal Waldron took two for 18 and Mark Smith two for 38.

After losing their first three wickets in the 20s to Hurdle, PHC's hopes of reaching the winning target quickly grew slim. Opener William Minors scored 30 and Gerald Simons 31 whle Waldron hit 16 not out in the tailend.

IYT 168 Social Club 169-7 Dwayne (Streaker) Adams scored 78 and Webster Mills 36 as Social Club beat the International Youth Team by three wickets at Nationals.

Youth Team captain Justin Robinson had a good allround match, first scoring 59 in his team's total of 168 and then claiming three for 57 as they tried to protect their total.

Adams, sharing the new ball with Cecil Tucker, snatched three early wickets on his way to three for 45 from 10 overs.
