Scraders and Donawa strike gold in US track meet

Kyrah Scraders and Justin Donawa led the medal charge for Bermuda Pacers Track Club at the United Age Group Track Coaches Association (UAGTCA) Invitational Track Meet in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In total, the club brought back home 17 medals with Scraders and Donawa setting personal best and new meet records while burning up the track.

Scraders, running in the 13-14 girls' 800 metre finals, crossed the line in two minutes, 19.34 seconds, establishing a new meet record.

She also won silver in the 1500 metres.

Donawa followed her success with a top performance of his own in the 12-14 boys' triple jump with a leap of 12.53 metres, while also grabbing gold in the boys high jump with a jump of 5.89 metres.

Also winning gold medals at the meet were Demiqua Daniels, who won the 11-12 girls' turbo javelin throw, and Jordan Bascome, who claimed the girls 13-14 high jump with a leap of 1.45 metres.

The 11-12 girls' 4x400 relay team struck gold in convincing fashion with Azaire Smith, Quaashie Douglas, Jaymie Darrell, and Jahtia Smith all contributing to the cause.

There were silver medals as well with Syriah Lottimore, who took two in the girls' nine-ten age group in both the long jump and 400 metres.

Deesa Booth also won two silvers in the girls' 15-16 shot putt and discus throw.

Smith claimed a silver to go along with her relay gold placing in the 11-12 400m, while Juma Mouchette collected silver in the 15-16 boys' 3,000 metres.

Flyers Track Club's Derico Clarke medalled with a second place in the 17-18 boys' 800 metres.

Haile Eve won a bronze in the 11-12 boys' long jump with a personal best leap, while Karim Creary in the 15-16 boys 400 metres, Smith in the 11-12 girls' 200 and Syriah Lottimore in the nine-ten girls' 200 metres took home bronze.
