Sims misses cut at Pro-Am
Two eagles and a bunch of birdies over three days still weren't enough as Michael Sims on Saturday missed the cut for the first time in five outings on the Nationwide Tour this year.
Having started the BMW Pro-Am, played on three courses in Greer, South Carolina, with a sparkling three-under 69 at the Carolina Country Club last Thursday, he couldn't build on that performance, posting an even-par 72 at the Bright's Creek GC on Saturday and a one-over 72 at the Thornblade Club on Saturday, finishing with a 54-hole total of two-under 213.
That left him in a tie for 110th in the 165-player field. Only those at five-under-par or better made it through to yesterday's final round with the winner picking up $126,000.
The 30-year-old Bermudian's troubles started early on Friday when he made double-bogey seven on the opening par-five first, before bouncing back with three birdies, slightly offset by a bogey at the last.
Saturday's rollercoaster round at Thornblade included an eagle at the par-five 16th and three birdies. But five bogeys on the card gave him no chance of advancing to the final round.
