Skipper's efforts all in vain for Social Club
Cleveland County 256-9
Social Club 242.
Rodney Trott took three wickets, scored 83 not out, and still couldn't help his side beat Cleveland.
Social Club's new skipper marked his first game in charge with a 14 run defeat, despite a brilliant batting display. In the end the bowling of Mackih McGowan proved too good for Trott's team-mates, and his four for 39 won the game.
Trott made a spirited attempt to steer his team to victory but ran out of capable partners. He finished with a six and nine fours and joined Jayno Durham (23) and Nakia Smith (22) in very productive stands, putting on 70 for the sixth wicket with Smith and 61 during a ninth wicket stand with Durham. Opener Dwayne Adams chipped in with 27.
Kion Butterfield was the other successful bowler for Cleveland taking two wickets for 48 runs off nine overs with a maiden.
Earlier Cleveland batted their allotted 50 overs and reached a formidable total thanks to Mikai Young who top scored with 68. Opener Stephen Douglas followed on 47, Shakai Darrell 37, Dennis Musson 25 and Butterfield 19.
Trott took three for 12 off 10 overs, while Jeffrey Tyrell claimed three for 45.
Western Stars 204, Somerset Bridge 152.
Stars beat Bridge by 52 runs at St. John's with Kevin Hurdle scoring 35 and Rohan Davis 32. Noel Woods led the Bridge in bowling with four for 53 in 10 overs while Shawn Riley took two for 28 off 10 overs.
Donnie Charles was high man for Bridge with 35 while Kacey Smith hit 22. Davis led Stars in bowling with three wickets for 31 runs.
