Special bond between Bulls players

I may have only just signed for New York Red Bulls but I've already been made to feel really welcome in the locker room.

The team are still buzzing from reaching the MLS final last season and I can tell that there's a special bond between the players.

I'm pretty settled in New York and have been training with the team for the past two days. Today we head to Argentina for a pre-season camp where I believe we will take on Boca Juniors and River Plate.

Red Bulls' coach Juan Carlos Osorio has spoken to me about what he expects next season from me. Apparently he tried to sign me while I was at New England Revolution and the fact he came back in for me has given me a lot of confidence.

He has put a lot of trust in me and told me not to let him down and I'm really focused for the new season.

Earlier this week our designated player, Juan Pablo Angel, agreed a long-term contract, which is a huge boost for us. Yesterday in training he scored a goal he had absolutely no right to score and looks like a terrific player.

I imagine even if I don't put in a perfect cross he's the sort of striker who will still be able to get in on the end of it and create a scoring chance for himself.

Despite his decorated past as a Premier League star at Aston Villa, he's a very humble guy and has been one of the most productive designated players in the MLS.

On the Bermuda front, I've been hearing lots of news about Bermuda Football Association's league restructuring and I think Derek Broadley's changes are spot on. I've always felt the Premier Division was too small and I believe the Development League will be the most important change of all.

For too long there has been a lost generation of players who have fell by the wayside after reaching 19 because they couldn't quite force their way into a Premier Division first team. I think Derek's really zeroed in on that.

I feel a little sorry for the Commercial League guys and I hope they can still all get a game. They're a fun bunch of guys and hopefully the BFA will come to some kind of arrangement that keeps everyone happy.

But it's important the pitches don't get overused and maybe now they will improve a little. I'm also intrigued by the news that the Premier Division champions could play in next season's CONCACAF Champions League.

Red Bulls will be taking the competition very seriously next season and it would be great to have a Bermudian team involved.

Finally, I would like to wish John Barry Nusum all the best at his new club Crystal Palace Baltimore. I'm not sure what's gone on with the Hogges but I know Palace are a very talented team from playing against them in the US Open Cup for New England Revolution last season.
