Cougars had their trusty Steedes to thank for reaching the Martonmere Cup final with all four goals against Hornets scored by members of the famous footballing family.

And it was the youngest of the trio of Steedes who started last night's emphatic win at BAA Field who stole the show with 18-year-old Tumani bagging a brace, while cousin Kwame and older brother Moses also scored.

Tumani, son of Cougars legend Cyril "Dago" Steede, reaffirmed his reputation as one of the brightest young talents of Bermudian football with an audacious volley midway through the first half after Kwame had already given the league leaders the lead.

Pouncing on a ball bouncing inside the Hornets area, Tumani beat his marker with his first touch before firing an angled shot into the far corner of the net with his second.

Cougars had dominated much of the first-half and scored again early in the second period when Tumani spotted goalkeeper Kejon slightly off his line and lifted the ball into the top right-hand corner.

At first it appeared his effort had been a misdirected cross, but the confident young striker later stressed his shot had been intended for one place only – the back of the net. "I know it looked like a cross but it wasn't," said Steede.

"I saw the keeper off his line and went for it.

"It was certainly a good night for the Steede boys and a very good night for all the Cougars players.

"My first (goal) was one of my best ever goals and I was pleased to see Kwame and Moses score as well."

Hornets pulled a goal back when Antoine Russell converted a penalty, but the striker then foolishly got himself sent off for a reckless challenge to end any realistic hopes his side had of clawing their way back into the game.

In the final few minutes Moses Steede increased Cougars advantage when he tapped home a penalty after he had been hauled down inside the box.
