Fred Anderson, a Jamaican who is in his sixties, and Williams (40) put on 55 for the second wicket after Sydney Huggins was bowled second ball for nought but when Anderson was fourth out at 94 New Haven subsided to 125 all out against the spin of Stowe (four for 19) and Randy Liverpool (two for 33). SAILOR KIRKLAND WINS SCHOOLS TITLE SLG Sailor Kirkland wins schools title Zander Kirkland put his overseas summer campaign in the Laser Radial to work by winning the New England Singlehanded High School Championships over the weekend.
More than 20 competitors took part in the event, held at Stonington, Connecticut.
Kirkland, 17, represented Tabor Academy of Marion, Massachusetts, one of 80 High Schools in the New England region.
As a result of his efforts, he now qualifies for the US High School Championships in Seattle, Washington on October 28.
"I was pleased with my consistency over the seven races,'' said Kirkland.
"It was light, three to five knots with almost as much current. My worst finish was an eighth in the 25 boat fleet. It was also fun to bump into fellow Bermudian and ex-Optimist sailor, Lawson Williams, representing Brewster Academy.''
