Streetball team to feature Crumpler

High flyer: Bermuda national team player Chris Crumpler will feature for the S.K.Y Streetball Syndicate in next month's Bermuda Gas All-Star Weekend.

Local basketball star Chris Crumpler will once again feature in the S.K.Y Streetball Syndicate team when they arrive on the Island for the Bermuda Gas All-Star weekend next month.

Bermuda international Crumpler, known as "Rain Man", toured the world last year with the S.K.Y team who will play against the Bermuda national team at Berkeley Institute as part of the All-Star weekend.

The event also features two days of community appearances, camps and clinics, as well as a triple-header basketball game, starting on Saturday May 7.

Bermuda Basketball Association (BBA) and will kick off the weekend with community appearances by players at CedarBridge Academy and Berkeley Institute.

Lee Greene, the Bermuda-based representative of S.K.Y Limited, said: "This weekend has become a special event and something we want to continue to enhance each year. We are very thankful for the sponsors that have stepped forward to support this event, especially our presenting sponsor, Bermuda Gas.

"They are literally making this event possible. The whole weekend is about community and how basketball can bring us together. We are working hard to ensure that it is jam-packed with educational elements, excitement and, of course, great basketball."

Also on the opening night, the Women's High School All-Star game starts at 7 p.m., while the Bermuda Boys' High School All Stars match begins at 7.45 p.m.

Tickets, costing $10, are available at the International Sports Shop on Bermudiana Road as well as from the Bermuda Gas office at 25 Serpentine Road and the appliance showroom on Church Street.

NBA legends who have been invited to the weekend include NBA Hall of Famer Sam Jones of the Boston Celtics, and Wali Jones, an Olympian and four-time NBA All-Star. Last year Julius Irving and Bill Russell attended the event.

Other guests invited for the weekend include ISL Commissioner David Bascome and former United States Olympic Committee Director of Marketing, Steve Brunner.
