Swimmers make mark in Canada

Bermuda's Dolphin swim team left the opposition trailing in their wake during a recent visit to Canada.

Taking part in the "Row, More" money meet at Wilfrid Laurier University, in Waterloo, Ontario, the team came away with a whopping 22 medals.

Evan Farrow led the way, taking three golds, a silver and a bronze, while Megan Lau also picked up five medals – one gold and five silver.

In all the Bermuda team won five golds, with Josh Irvine snatching the final gold in the 100 metres butterfly. Irvine's time of 1:41.07 was also an unofficial long course record.

Other medallists included Tate Crofts, who grabbed two silvers and a bronze and set three new records in the process in the girls' 9-10 100m breaststroke (1:49.76), 200m breaststroke (3:50.78 ) and 200m Individual Medley (3:2625.06). Ruskin Cave (two silver), Mackenzy Cooper (bronze), Emily Cowan (bronze), and Denis Pasagic (bronze) were also on the podium.

still lead the way

Bermuda will take a narrow two-stroke lead into today's final round of the Kitty Michaels Invitational in Florida.

Tracy Nash and Ann Symonds carded second round 86s yesterday on the Harbourside Course as the Island just held off the challenge from the Southeast Florida team.

Defending champions of the gross division, Bermuda will fancy their chances of retaining the Balandra Cup while also looking to improve their position in the net contest, where they currently lie fifth, having moved up one place following a 75 from Nash yesterday.
