Not even the return to the dugout of Andrew Bascome could prevent Boulevard from slipping to defeat against title chasers North Village.

Bascome watched on in dismay as his side committed a catalogue of defensive errors during a disjointed display at BAA Field yesterday.

The only smidgeon of pleasure he could take from yesterday's defeat at BAA Field was that the pace and power of his former student, Jason Lee, undid his team.

Lee, a product of Bacome FC, bagged a brace and tormented Blazers' sluggish looking defence throughout the encounter to earn the praise of his ex-coach.

"Jason was superb today," said Bascome, who walked out on Boulevard earlier this season because his players failed to turn up to training.

"He is a beautiful player. It was pleasing to watch him play so well and he could have a bright future ahead of him."

The teenaged striker gave Village an early lead with a smart finish after intercepting a poor clearance from Blazers' goalkeeper Randy Broadbelt.

But Blazers hit back against the run of play just before the interval when Dion Stovell spotted Village goalkeeper Jason Williams off his line and executed a delightful chip from –30-yards out.

Shaun Goater's side then found themselves trailing when Blazers' substitute Angelo Simmons slotted home Quadir Maynard's left-wing cross soon after the restart.

Village required some inspiration from Lee to draw level a few moments later with the pacey striker cutting in from the left before beating Broadbelt at his near post with a powerful drive.

Lee's strike seemed to suck the belief out of Blazers and instilled some renewed vigour into his team-mates who dominated the match from therein.

Ralph Bean continued his recent goalscoring spree when he was the first to react after Broadbelt could only parry substitute Sammy DeGraff's deflected effort from distance.

The Village striker still had plenty to do and showed great composure to twist and turn his marker before thrashing a left-footed shot beyond Broadbelt.

In the final minute Village struck again when Broadbelt capped off his miserable afternoon by somehow fumbling a routine cross allowing substitute Jemeiko Jennings to tap the ball into an empty net.

The defeat signalled the death knell of any hopes Blazers had of re-entering the Premier Division title race with Bascome showing very little sympathy to his players.

"I am not surprised we lost. We do not train properly and that is what happens," said Bascome.

"I am back helping out and I just have to put a brave face on things."
