The Hogges deserved a share of the spoils

I had a free evening on Tuesday and with Bermuda Hogges in town I decided to get myself down to the Lusitano Stadium in Massachusetts to support my boys.

Even if I'd had plans I would have probably cancelled them because I always try and make a point of watching the Hogges whenever they're playing in the Boston area.

Ludlow, Springfield, is only about an hour-and-a-half drive from where I live and I took along my New England Revolution team-mate Rob Valentino to see my national team colleagues in action.

Rob's one the Rev's new guys and he's just come back from playing for the USA Under-23 side.

Overall I thought the Hogges did enough to deserve to take a point from the match and I wasn't overly impressed with Western Mass Pioneers.

The first-half was a pretty flat affair and neither team really got going.

The Hogges passed the ball around nicely at times but didn't show enough cutting edge in attack.

It certainly wasn't the first-half they would have been looking for, but they greatly improved after the break.

They dominated the second-half and looked a far better side than Pioneers.

If they'd played like that all game then they would have definitely come away with something.

They had a great penalty shout when John Barry Nusum was pulled down in the area and I couldn't believe it when the referee decided to give a free-kick the other way.

Why would John dive when he was in on goal?

I doubt Kyle Lightbourne will be happy with either goal conceded, although the second was on the counter-attack when the Hogges were pushing for the equaliser.

Despite it being the wrong result I enjoyed the game nevertheless and Rob (Valentino) said he was impressed with some of Kwame Steede's touches and also thought John looked like an intelligent player.

Hopefully the Hogges will return to winning ways when they play against Cleveland City Stars at the National Sports Centre tomorrow night.

It's been a bit of a frustrating time for me at the Revs as I've started on the bench for the last couple of games.

I don't expect that to change when we take on DC United at the Gillette Stadium later today. We won our last game against Columbus Crew and I don't think our coach Steve Nicol will change a winning team.

I've just got to keep my head down and work even harder to regain my starting place – I know my chance will come again soon.

Sure, it's been disappointing for me but there's no use complaining about it.

It's part and parcel of football and I've just got to do my best in the reserve matches and try and impress when I next come on as a substitute for the first-team.

I'm looking forward to coming back to Bermuda for the national team's second match against Barbados at the NSC on June 9, and I will remain with the team throughout our World Cup qualifiers against Trinidad and Tobago.

See you at the corner-flag!
