Tight at the top as trio all win

Flying high: Otis Ingham takes the chequered flag in the Expert 125 cc division during yesterday's motocross races at South Side race track in St David's.

Zico Majors made an encouraging return to the Motocross circuit yesterday as he won the third race of the day in the 125 expert class to leave the standings very tight after the second race day.

Majors, along with Otis Ingham and Shakir Smith, won the three motos, setting the stage for a battle of epic proportions with none of the riders really shining above the rest.

And it was Majors who made his presence felt in the last race of the day, sending out a signal of intent to his competitors.

Coming off a season in which he suffered multiple injuries that left him on the sidelines for most of the year, he seems to have come back inspired to make a sustained championship run this year.

After his victory Majors assured all that the season will come down to the wire with every rider possessing the talent to win on any given day.

"It feels good to be back on the track and notch the first victory of the season," said Majors.

"I didn't race too much last year with injuries so I can't really say the difference between the previous track to this one.

"But all of the races were very hard, especially the third one.

"I started feeling a bit sick during the ride but I managed to hold it together and get the win.

"Otis started to gain ground on me towards the end but I held him off and this will go a long way towards the standing even though it is still early.

"The category is definitely competitive. As you can see three races, three winners.

"That is a testament to the competitiveness of all the riders."

While the newly designed track has some critics, Majors for one is a fan, stating that is helps him with his style of racing, which is speed.

Speed got him over the hump and into the winners circle

"I like the track. It suits my style of riding and how I go about things, which is fast.

"A lot of the other riders aren't really fussy about it, but personally speaking it is nice. "I am ready to win them all now so we will see how this helps me as the races come and get comfortable again riding."
