Top Spanish team to run local camp

Spanish giants Valencia CF are bringing their world-renowned skills camp to Bermuda as part of an agreement signed with Andrew Bascome's ABC Football School.

Running from October 15 to 18, the Next Generation VCF Camp will see 180 youngsters train with Valencia's academy staff who will also hold seminars and practice session for local coaches.

The Next Generation project is part of the club's efforts to spread Valencia CF's name, culture and ambitions throughout the world. They have already stretched their global expansion to Jamaica where they held an Easter camp.

Bascome, who also coaches First Division side Robin Hood, said the camp would be a great experience for Bermuda's budding young players and hoped it would become a regular occurance.

"We are very pleased to be able to bring this opportunity to Bermuda and our young footballers," he said.

"One of the main missions of ABC Football School is to bring best in class providers to Bermuda to help accelerate the adoption of our 'selfless football' concept.

"We are obviously very flattered by the fact that Valencia CF and the Foundation have chosen ABC Football School as their local partner.

"Should this first camp be successful, we expect to be able to enter into a long-term agreement with Valencia and the Next Generation VCF.

"We have carefully selected the dates for the camp so that it will not conflict with school breaks, BFA league activities or the Rugby Classic."

Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) president, Richard Calderon said the partnership between the ABC Football School and Valencia CF had the BFA's full backing.

Calderon said: "We, the Bermuda Football Association, are in full support of the initiatives undertaken by the ABC Football School in particular the affiliation with the Valencia CF and their VCF Football Academy."

Last month, Andrew Bascome announced he would be hand-picking two Bermuda coaches to join him on a ten-day visit to the French national football centre Clairefontaine as part of a coaching deal with Jacques Crevoisier.

Crevoisier, a former Liverpool first team coach, will also provide hands-on support in developing a curriculum and coaching manual for Bascome's ambitious ABC Football School.
