Veteran triathlete Kent Richardson took first place in his age division – 50 to 54 – at last Sunday's fourth annual Hy-Vee Triathlon in Des Moines, Iowa.
He finished 100th among the 1,342 competitors.
"I had a good race," said Richardson. "I had a few problems with the goggles in the swim but all in all a good race.
The Bermudian is building up to the Budapest ITU World Championships in September and the World Ironman championships in Hawaii, for which he has qualified.
As reported earlier this week, Flora Duffy placed 20th at the Hy-Vee event in the women's elite division while Karen Bordage earned her ticket to the Hawaii Ironman after winning her age group at the EagleMan Half-Ironman in Cambridge, Maryland.
