Tucker tips Cougars to remain unbeaten

Korvon Tucker (left) has been a revelation this season as his Devonshire Cougars side look to remain undefeated when they face Dandy Town in the Dudley Eve tonight.

Devonshire Cougars winger Korvon Tucker backs his side to come good when they put their unbeaten record on the line tonight against urban rivals Dandy Town Hornets in the Dudley Eve tournament at Somerset Cricket Club.

Under first year coach Devar Boyles, who is understood to have been interviewed for the Bermuda Football Association's (BFA) youth director's position, Cougars have swept away all opponents on their way to boasting a superb record in all competitions.

Tucker has been influential with his play this season, scoring crucial goals for the side at key moments in important games.

But the speed merchant was quick to stress his side do not have an edge over their cross-town rivals, stating both teams have plenty of quality within their ranks.

"The previous matches won't have any bearing on the result of tonight's match," said Tucker. "They definitely won't be in our heads when the whistle goes so it will be interesting to see what happens.

"We have beaten them twice already but can't let that make us complacent, or it will be a long game for us.

"But it will be a good game though, and they will have some of the college players back."

Cougars have beaten Town 3-0 and 4-1 this season, yet any talk of the men in green and gold letting their guard down will be quickly rebutted by their belief to run the table in all competitions.

Tucker, whose nickname is "Animal" for his intensity on the pitch, believes they have what it takes to go the distance undefeated in both the league and all remaining cup competitions.

"Our main goal for the season is to go undefeated, which is something that no one has done and in doing that we would win everything up for grabs, including the Dudley Eve.

"We are at the half-way mark right now and looking good, so we are happy with how it has gone thus far.

"We have 15 points in the league, which is good but we could have more than that.

"The games we drew we could have easily won but became laid back and allowed teams to get back in those matches.

"Anything can happen in this match, they have a few players back into the fold for them which will aid them.

"And their form right now is good, but we will take it all in stride and do what we need to do to get ourselves ready and focused on what lies ahead."

St. George's Colts and Somerset Trojans will precede the Premier Division game in the First Division Dudley Eve match.
