Unbeaten records on the line for East and West
Arch Cup Match rivals St. George's and Somerset headline the weekend's Twenty20 schedule when the two unbeaten sides clash tomorrow at Somerset Cricket Club, with the winners all but securing a place in the semi-finals.
The two sides, along with St. David's and Willow Cuts who meet today at Southampton Oval, are the only remaining teams unbeaten. But that has to change this weekend.
For St. George's and Somerset, the road has been relatively straightforward with PHC the only big name team that either have played.
St. George's enter the match on the back of a 70-run win over Devonshire Rec., having beaten PHC by five wickets and Flatts by 143 runs in their previous outings.
While the East Enders have been scoring runs in abundance, Somerset have been defending gettable totals with efficient bowling.
The West Enders have defeated Somerset Bridge by 64 runs, Cleveland by 40 runs and Leg Trappers by 90 runs in matches that have seen them yet to be tested.
Considering the form of their rivals, who have scored 200-plus runs in two of their three games, they are sure to have their hands full tomorrow.
Champions St. David's have pushed aside Young Men's Social Club, Western Stars, and the BCB U-19s on their march towards a successful title, while Cuts have seen off Warwick, Bailey's Bay and the Commercial XI.
The difference between the two isn't much but the deciding factor could be who can cope without the loss of key players currently on international duty for Bermuda.
The Islanders are without skipper Delyone Borden while the Cuts bowling attack will be without Kevon Fubler and Malachi Jones.
Today's other matches will see Warwick play Commercial XI and Cleveland take on Flatts at Sea Breeze Oval, while at Wellington Oval, Social Club tackle Bay and St. George's play Leg Trappers.
PHC's clash with Somerset Bridge follows Cuts and St. David's at Southampton Oval. Somerset play Devonshire Rec. and the U-19s meet Western Stars at Somerset Cricket Club.
Tomorrow's matches will see Stars play Cuts and Somerset take on St. George's at Somerset Cricket Club, while St. David's look to take advantage of Warwick and the the Commercial XI play Bay at Sea Breeze Oval.
