Veteran player-coach Charlie Marshall struck a magnificent century while Daniel Morgan came within five runs of the three-figure mark yesterday as Social Club finally displayed some of their championship form by recovering to beat Somerset by four wickets at Somerset.

With relegation staring them in the face reigning Premier Division champions Social Club showed that they intended to make a spirited effort to finish off the season strong in their two remaining games going into this fixture.

But it took the experience of two senior players, Marshall and Morgan, to steer Social Club from certain disaster when they were floundering at 49 for four in chase after the formidable 245 posted by Somerset who are also among the relegation battlers.

The duo added stability by joining in a fifth wicket stand that produced 187 runs taking the score to 236 and well within striking distance of victory.

Both players produced some fierce shots with Marshall slightly more aggressive scoring his 103 runs off 89 balls with 13 fours and two sixes while Morgan faced 114 balls and hammered eight fours and three sixes. They helped Social Club reach victory in 42.5 overs.
