PHC Zebras v

Somerset Trojans

This is a game full of anticipation considering the strong starts to the league campaign that both teams have enjoyed.

With the match being the first of a double-header (12.30 p.m.) at Southampton Oval, the winners will go top of the table for at least two hours depending on how Somerset Eagles get on later in the day.

Returning to the top flight has rejuvenated Trojans, who currently lie third, two points behind the league leaders and one point behind Zebras.

The emergence of Tahj Wade on the big stage has been a big plus for Trojans and with the goalscoring prowess of Adrian Burrows they should cause PHC a few problems.

As for Zebras, they will have to improve on their goalkeeping if they are to sustain a run at the league title.

Last week, a 'keeper blunder by Raymond Glasford nearly cost them their win overstruggling Hamilton Parish.

Prediction: 1-1

North Village v

Hamilton Parish

Village will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season to Devonshire Cougars when they face Parish at the Wellington Oval.

The Rams have shown some encouraging signs so far, but playing two games every week may start to take a toll if the troops aren't shuffled around.

Yet with none of their strikers hitting form, this could be the breakout game they have been waiting for.

Parish haven't looked like the side who surprised all last term, shipping in goals in every game and the bleeding doesn't look to be stopping any time soon.

Newly promoted teams usually catch many of their opponents by surprise in their first year, but once others get wise to their tricks a new plan must be found.

And Parish must find a way to get points – and fast.

Prediction: Village 3-0

Southampton Rangers

v Devonshire Colts

Rangers have been hard done by in their opening two games after going up in both matches, only to fall short in the dying stages.

They shouldn't have any problem with Colts at the Southampton Oval, who seem to have improved from last year but still look like a relegation threatened side.

Rangers have the ability to play very attractive football, but their task this weekend will be to keep it up for the full 90 minutes.

Prediction: Rangers 2-1

Devonshire Cougars

v Dandy Town

The match of the day will be part two of the city rivalry in the space of three days when the two giants of domestic football clash at Devonshire Rec.

The defending champions will be buoyed by their 1-0 win over North Village in their last outing as they got their league campaign back on track.

Town will be looking to rebound from their 3-2 loss to Eagles last weekend and would love nothing better than to get one over on their heated cross-town rivals.

Prediction: 2-2

Boulevard v

Somerset Eagles

Without question the biggest talking point of the season so far has been the emergence of Kenny Thompson's men.

However, it shouldn't be a surprise that they are top of the table considering the attacking talent they have in their ranks.

At St.John's Field on Sunday they face the last of the big three from last year having already brushed aside Cougars and Hornets.

One area they will need to improve on is their back line which has seemed shaky at times, but the 'bend but don't break' method is working for the side at the moment.

Goals are coming from all over the pitch which makes Eagles that much more deadly and Boulevard will have to focus on more than just the strikers.

Blazers will, however, be looking to continue their form that saw them come from behind to beat Rangers last week.

Whether they can they re-group from last night's Dudley Eve match to be fresh for the fixture will be a crucial point.

Prediction: Eagles 1-0
