Winners crowned at Rendezvous event
The 30th Annual Bermuda Rendezvous tournament held its finals on Sunday night with the top five women and top men bowling for the championship.
There were 102 doubles entries and 180 singles and the Optional special events resulted in 153 men and 134 women entries. For the first time in memory there was a tie for the doubles championships.
The team of Joan Burgess and Alpheus Santucci bowled a 1431, while Jermaine Desilva and Patrice Tucker were giving them a good run and ended up with the same score.
Placing third was Lanan Bascome/Beverly Houston while in fourth place Carl Reid teamed up with Dean Lightbourn to bowl a 1411 for fourth place.
The singles event, with 180 entries, was won by Patrice Tucker, bowling a 722 scratch plus handicap of 72 for a 794 total series. Renalda Bean placed second with a 743, Raymond Burchall third with a 739 while Dean Lightbourn was close behind with a 732.
Patrice Tucker, Maria Ward from Maryland, Beverly Houston from Delaware, Traci Lambe and Kenneisha Simmons topping the list for the T. V. format roll off.
Traci Lame out bowled Kenneisha Simmons with a 181 to Simmons' 168. Lambe advanced to take on Maria Ward from Maryland who won the match bowling a 190 to Lambe's 166.
Maria Ward then met Beverly Houston from Delaware head on to win the match 200 to 147. Patrice Tucker had bowled so well earlier in the tournament but couldn't get it together. Maria Ward claimed the Championship winning $400 and a watch from Crissons out bowling Patrice Tucker with a 187 to 175.
The men's finals saw Willie Richardson from Maryland bowl a 180 while his opponent Alpheus Santucci finished with a 203 to move on to bowl Lamar Richardson who scored a 199 to Santucci's 185.
Richardson bowled a 182 and was sent to the bench by David Maycock's 214.
Maycock, however, was not match in the finals against Dean Light bourn who bowled a 258 to Mayock's 193.
Sandi Griffin bowled the highest game of 278 while Lanan Bascome claimed second high game prize with a 263. Patrice Tucker bowled the highest series of 722 with Beverly Houston on her heels bowling a 686.
The highest game bowled in the men's division was a 277 by Dean Lightbourn while Carl Reid came in second with a 279. Dean Lightbourn also claimed top honours with his 698 series with David Maycock not far behind with a 686.
Fourteen places were paid out in the Doubles, 13 in Singles, 20 places in the Men's Optional and 17 places in the Women's Optional.
