BASA plan 'swimathon'
Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) will be holding a 12-hour fundraising swimathon for their members at the Saltus pool on Saturday, November 6.
All of the money raised will be used to refurbish the BASA facility with the work including new starting blocks and resurfacing the pool deck.
Tim Petty, president of BASA, said: "We are now in need of updating our facilities. To this end BASA and its fundraising committee will be embarking on a number of fund raising projects over the coming months and years.
"Our first major initiative will be a 12-hour swimathon on Saturday, November 6. All of our members, young and old, will be taking part in this event and we are hopeful that the Bermuda public will support our athletes with a donation toward this initiative. We realise that this is a difficult economic environment for many, but would ask that if called upon to make a pledge, you will be kind enough to support our fund raising effort. No donation is too small and we are very grateful for all contributions, regardless of amount."
Anyone interested in making a donation can contact the BASA office at 292-1713.
