Bermuda team in Carib final
Bermuda are through to the finals of the Caribbean Squash Championships after they thrashed Barbados 4-1 yesterday.
Wins for Patrick Foster, Nick Kyme, Robert Maycock and Micah Franklin put the Island team through, with only Chris Stout failing to win.
Foster and Maycock swept aside their opponents, Shawn Simpson and Gavin Cumberbatch, in straight sets while Franklin need a little while longer to beat Mark Sealy, 11-4, 6-11, 11-6, 11-9.
Kyme fought back from two sets to one down to eventually triumph over Bryant Cumberbatch 3-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-7, 11-4, and Stout very nearly made it a whitewash, fighting back from two sets to one down to draw level before falling 11-9, 6-11, 4-11, 11-9, 9-11 to Gavin Cumberbatch.
"There were hard fought matches for everyone," said Bermuda skipper Foster. "The conditions were extremely hot and humid. We nearly won all our matches, Chris was so unlucky and worked so hard."
