Keep on running: Kavin Smith (middle) and Jay Donawa (left) push race leader Terrance Armstrong.

Jay Donawa and Kavin Smith will represent Bermuda at the 5th Annual North America, Central America & Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Cross Country Championships in Orlando, Florida.

Bermuda cross-country champion Donawa, and Smith, both met all of the criteria to be considered for the event, while Robert Oliver will accompany the pair to the US as team manager.

The competition will take place at Chain of Lakes Park, Orlando, on March 7th, with an estimated 170 athletes from the national regions competing.

The NACAC Championships will contest races for the open men's 8 km, open women's 6 km, junior men's 6 km and junior women's 4 km.

"The Bermuda Track and Field (BTFA) board of directors selected these two athletes and as Bermudians they were the only ones who met the criteria," said Donna Watson of the BTFA.

"The criteria was that they had to compete in three out of the five cross country events in the series and of course be in the top four and running reasonable times to be competitive in the region. They also have to be Bermudian as this is an International IAAF event."
