Hood in the hunt for new boss
John Rebello could be on the verge of a return to football management, as the boss of First Division newcomers Robin Hood.
The former Vasco and Boulevard Blazers coach is rumoured to have been approached by Hood president Paul Scope about leading the club in their inaugural season in the First Division, and then eventually into the Premier Division.
Scope, who had been in charge of the side in recent years, decided to step down once his club's place in the Bermuda Football Association's re-organised league structure was confirmed on Monday.
And legendary Bermuda goalkeeper Dwayne 'Streaker' Adams, who led North Village to the Triple Crown in the 2005-2006 season could also be in the reckoning. However, both men have also been linked with the vacant Cougars job, with the Premier Division champions looking for someone to replace Devarr Boyles.
"Our first year will be a transition year," said Scope, "and we need someone who can guide us through that. I only really became coach by default, and with the Hogges and my day job I don't have the time to be coach as well.
"We want a full time coach, and I have talked to a few successful, quality coaches about coming to Robin Hood. We weren't able to talk specifics because as a club we weren't being complacent about the vote. But now it's decided hopefully we'll have a new coach in the next week or so."
The arrival of a new coach does not mean that Scope will stop coaching altogether.
Hood have a team in the newly-created Corona League, and the club president is expecting to be involved in that to a certain extent.
"When I do something I do it all the way," said Scope. "Our ambition as a club is to get into the Premier Division and become a full member of the BFA. We need someone who can devote themselves fully to that.
"The Corona League team will be part of the club, and will help us develop players.
"I'd like to think that I can help players come on from that league up into the First Division squad."
