League on line for APOEL
Sullivan Phillips and his APOEL teammates are one win away from clinching the Cyprus basketball championships after the side hold a two games to one advantage over rivals AEL.
AEL won the third game of the best of five to keep their hopes alive of winning the title, but will need to win the win two games available in order to hoist the title.
What is even more bizarre are events that took place after the loss, with Phillips and teammates being subjected to fans throwing objects at their bus as they drove away from the venue.
Phillips, who was hit during the fracas, isn't worried about what happened after the match, but rather what it will take to win one more game to lift the title.
"The series is 2-1 and it's the best out of five or the first on to win three games," said Phillips.
"So Friday were trying to finish it up and be the champs.
"As a team were very focused, we just want to win and be done with the season if I'm honest from personal and professional gratification.
"The incident was simple, we were driving on the road and a rock was thrown at the bus that broke the window and hit me in my back.
It hurt initially obviously but I'm ok.
"It's sad to see that the sport and players can be put in the line of fire like this but unfortunately this is life.
"This is the first time I've ever encountered this crazy behavior but what can you do?
"As for my goals and aspirations, to take the championship is what every player dreams of and to win another one on Friday for sure makes the goals and aspirations achieved."
