A goal two minutes from the end by veteran David Signor enabled the east enders to maintain hold of first place in the First Division yesterday.

Signor rescued his team with the goal at Police field in a contest that saw the visitors being fully extended by the home side who held their own in the fixture from start to finish.

Although Joell Dennis was superb in goal for Prospect where he denied St. George's time and time again, preventing at least six clear-cut chances, the home side had their share of half chances that kept them threatening for the entire game.

Prospect actually came close to taking the lead in the end when Jerry Laws had the ball stolen from his feet by a defender when he was in a goal-scoring position after 76 minutes.

But it was Signor who had the last say, snatching victory with his late effort when a draw seemed to be the inevitable result.
