Runner Lamont Marshall broke his indoor one-mile personal best competing at a New Balance Collegiate Invitational track meeting at the Armory in New York.

He shaved three seconds from his indoor best when he ran four minutes and 17.82 seconds in the open men's mile, finishing seventh, one place behind fellow KPMG Invitational Front Street Mile competitor Abiyot Endale, of the Westchester running club, who ran 4.12.

Marshall went through the first 800m in 2.04, but slowed a little in the second half of the race. The event was won by Liam Boylan-Pett in 4.04.

Also in action overseas in the past two weeks was competitive master road runner Geoff Blee. He competed in the ING Miami Marathon on January 31, clocking a time of three hours, one minute and 23 seconds. The race was won by Michael Wardian in 2.28.39.
