Sims misses cut
Michael Sims couldn't build on his success of a week earlier when he failed to make the cut at the Nationwide Tour's Price Cutter Charity Championships in Springfield, Missouri yesterday.
In a low scoring two days at the 7,115-yard, par-72 Highland Springs Country Club course, the Bermudian carded an even par 72 yesterday to add to a one-under 71 in the first round for a 36-hole total of 143.
But that was nowhere near enough to advance to today's third round with only those at five-under or better making it to the weekend.
Once again inconsistency marred Sims' play with his card showing five birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey.
Starting on the tenth tee, he birdied the 11th but endured a five at the par-three 13th and from then on it was a rollercoaster ride, especially on the front nine where he birdied his first three holes only to drop another two shots coming home.
Sims started the event at 66th on the Nationwide Tour moneylist following a ninth place finish in the Wichita Open where he picked up a cheque for $13,750 – his biggest pay-day of the season.
