Middle-order batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan, pictured right, will lead the West Indies team in the first Test Match against Australia at Sabina Park, Jamaica, which starts on Thursday. Dwayne Bravo has been named vice captain.

Chris Gayle, who led the team in the home series against Sri Lanka in March and April, has been ruled out due to a groin injury sustained in the final one-day International against Sri Lanka in St. Lucia a month ago.

Left-handed opening batsman Sewnarine Chattergoon is recovering from a shoulder injury and is also unavailable for selection.
