St. George’s darts match in webcam link-up

The fifteenth annual darts challenge between St. George’s and twin town Lyme Regis will take place on Saturday, April 23 at the The Nags Head in the UK.Seven darts players picked from the Lyme Regis Darts League will throw darts in the Flights Across the Atlantic Darts Challenge, and a similar team from St George’s will play in the St George’s Dinghy Club, Bermuda. The darts match is normally played with the scores being relayed over the telephone, each player taking turn for their throw. However, this year the match is using up-to-date technology and will be played with a webcam link-up so that the darts players and their scores can be seen. This event is unique, as it is thought to have been the first darts match ever to be played over the phone and is now going one step further to be more unique with a webcam.Pictures will be relayed to each location and shown on large TV screens at the different venues.A cup will be presented to the wining team; the current holder of the cup is Lyme Regis, which has won the competition five times against St George’s two.
