Butterfield claims Olympic spot

Bermuda's Tyler Butterfield qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games after finishing 25th at today's ITU World Triathlon Madrid in Spain.The past Male Athlete of the Year completed the 1500m swim, 40K bike and 10K run in an overall time of 1:55.40.The Olympic male qualification simulation posted earlier today shows Butterfield as the 45th Elite Men's triathlete to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games.The selection process to determine Olympic qualification expired today.Englishman Jonathan Brownlee won today's ITU World Triathlon Madrid in an overall time of 1:51.49.Russian duo Alexander Bryukhankov (1:52.28) and Dmitry Polyanskiy (1:52.54) rounded off the top three in the Elite Men's field.
