Lady Bluebirds make winning start
Defending champions Young Men’s Social Club Lady Bluebirds got their Senior Winter League title defence off to a winning start during weekend netball action at Bernard Park.Lady Bluebirds got past league newcomers Robin Hood 55-25 in a high -scoring affair.Prolific goal shooter Danielle Raynor led Lady Bluebirds’ charge, scoring all of her team’s points to cap a superb day of shooting inside the circle.Young Men’s Social Club Blazzin Bluebirds also romped to an emphatic win after thrashing North Village Lady Rams Too 64-8. Blazzin Bluebirds captain Fredricka Samuels led her team’s scoring with 59 points.“My shooting could have been better but the feeds to the circle were phenomenal from Wing Attack, Goal Attack, Center and Wing Defense,” Samuels said. “As a team we played very well together and everyone was on their ‘A’ game.”Other teams recording resounding wins were Data Tech Netts and Shield Security Tigers.Data Tech beat North Village Lady Rams 61-35 with Gina Benjamin (35) and Kimale Evans (16) combining for 51 points.Rose Richardson poured in 22 points to guide Tigers to a 50-13 win against the club’s second team Shield Security Warriors, formerly known as Devonshire Colts Warriors.In a match that could’ve gone either way, Warwick Pink Panthers edged Signworx 38-35. Iman Smith led Pink Panthers with 26 points while Darrika Simons chipped in with 11.Senior Winter League action resumes on Saturday at Bernard Park.
