Data Tech Netts soar into top spot
Data Tech Netts soared to the top of the Senior Winter Netball League standings after cruising to victory against lowly SS Warriors at Bernard Park yesterday.Netts prevailed 72-17 in a lopsided affair with Gina Benjamin erupting for 66 points while Salina Bascome accounted for all of Warriors' scoring.Netts are a perfect 3-0 for the season and top the pile on goal difference over nearest rivals Warwick Panthers and defending league champions Young Men's Social Club Lady Bluebirds who are currently competing at the USA National Netball Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada.Panthers also moved up the standings into second spot after handing bottom side North Village Lady Rams Too a heavy 70-10 defeat. Debbie DeShields (40 pts) and Darrika Simons (30 pts) accounted for all of their team's scoring while T'Yanna Hayward replied with five points for Lady Rams Too who remain winless after four matches.The remaining match saw Signworx chalk up their second win of the campaign after getting past North Village Lady Rams 54-34. Danielle Onyia led the Signworx scoring with 43 points while Jaylynn Hines chipped in with 11. Nikkita Hunt replied with 25 for Lady Rams who are currently eighth in the ten team league.Yesterday's action at Bernard Park also featured the start of the Junior League.North Village Lady Rams edged Netts Greens 19-13 in an evenly contested Under 15 match up with Xah-Niyah Hunt leading Rams' charge with 13 points. Inshanae Smith replied with seven points for Netts Greens.The remaining Under 15 match saw Netts White cruise to a comfortable 31-12 win against Superstarz who failed to live up their name. Nia Dailey (21 pts) and Micah Pond (10 pts) led the scoring for Netts White while Shondenae Woods-Bell accounted for all of Superstarz' scoring.In Under 12 play, North Village Lady Rams thumped Netts Greens 38-2 with Brianna Swainson (20 pts) and Toya Anderson (10 pts) leading the charge. Dennika Lambert accounted for Netts Greens' scoring.Devonshire Colts also had things their own way in a 16-2 win against Cougar Cubs. Delia Ebbin poured in 11 points for Colts while Jahdejah Swan accounted for all of Cubs' scoring.The remaining match saw Netts White get past Netts Black 25-11. Teyah Lindo scored 15 points for Netts White while Asha Symons replied with seven points in a losing cause for Netts Black.Young Men's Social Club Baby Bluebirds had a bye.
