Najee lands two trophies in annual junior tourney
Najee Edwards was the biggest winner during the recent annual Blue Waters Anglers Club’s Junior Tournament.Edwards walked away with two trophies after reeling in the most fish and the heaviest on Nelson Ible’s 31-foot boat, Sea Star.The junior angler caught a yellowtail snapper that tipped the scale at five pounds fishing on the Edge on South Shore and amassed a total of 14 pounds during the tournament.Edwards was one of only two anglers registered in the offshore division. The other was Nkosi Edwards who landed four-pound yellowtail snapper on the same boat which was the second heaviest fish of the tournament.Zion Dowling caught the heaviest fish in the inshore division.Dowling reeled in a three pound yellowtail snapper on Kirk Roberts’ 40-foot boat, Jolly Roger, while Ricardo Tucker landed a two-and-a-half pound bonito on the same boat which was the second heaviest fish in his respective division.T.Caines caught the most fish (a total 13 and a half pounds) among the inshore anglers followed by Aldon Campbell who landed eight and quarter pounds.Caines also caught the heaviest silk snapper (one and a quarter pounds), Campbell landed the heaviest porgy (one and three quarters of a pound) while Kwione Darrell hooked the heaviest turbot (three quarters of a pound).All inshore anglers fished on Robert’s boat.The fish were weighed in at Blue Waters Anglers Club following the 3pm cut-off time.More than 30 juniors took part in this year’s tournament, held on August 24.
