Wells’ hat-trick rescues Bradford
Nahki Wells struck a hat-trick to rescue a precious point for Bradford City in their home league clash with Coventry City at Valley Parade today.
The Bermudian striker converted in the 17th, 28th and 90th (penalty) minutes to earn the Bantams a hard fought 3-3 draw with visiting Coventry City who led twice.
Wells was denied a fourth goal after his right-footed free kick from outside the box crashed onto the bar in the 44th minute.
The ex-Dandy Town player has now scored 12 goals in all competitions so far this term.
Bradford were forced to chase the game as early as the second minute of the match when Andy Webster put Coventry ahead after converting from close range from a set piece.
Leon Clarke then doubled the visitors’ lead in the seventh minute with another effort from inside the area.
Wells sparked Bradford’s comeback when he opened his account from close range in the 17th minute.
The Bermuda international levelled the scores in the 28th minute after firing in James Hanson’s headed pass from a set piece in the box.
Coventry regained the lead in the 42nd minute when Callum Wilson converted from a tight angle.
After being denied by the woodwork, Wells salvaged a point for the hosts from the penalty spot in the fourth minute of added time after Jordan Clarke handled the ball in the box.
