Colts drop points

Devonshire Colts dropped two valuable points as Boulevard moved level on points at the top of the First Division standings yesterday.

Colts, who won the Shield final a few days ago, drew 1-1 at Police Field after coming from behind to protect their unbeaten record this season. Kyhon Smith gave X-Roads the lead in the 52nd minute and pressure finally paid off in the form of a well-struck equaliser from Jomei Bean-Lindo who drove his shot from outside the box into the top corner after a corner.

Colts suffered a setback in the closing minutes when striker Kyle Jones, just back from a suspension, was sent off by referee Tracy Adams for directing foul and abusive language at the official after Adams turned down calls for a penalty after Treshun Smith was challenged near the edge of the box.

Boulevard squeezed out a 3-2 win over St David’s Warriors at Lord’s in a match that St David’s took the lead twice through James Pace Jr who broke the deadlock in the eighth minute and then scored again in the 52nd.

Tai-vince Douglas scored the first equaliser for Boulevard in the 34th minute before goals in the 54th and 85th minutes by Ian Coke sealed the win for Boulevard.

Wolves lost valuable ground in the promotion race when they were thrashed 7-0 by BAA Wanderers on Saturday night, with Laquan Thomas and Morricko Iris both scoring twice. Troy Tucker, Nicholas Arujo and Jair Minors added single strikes for BAA as things got worse for Wolves with the sending off of Antoine Brangman and Sergio Richardson. Wolves are level on 18 points with X-Roads, six behind Colts and Boulevard and two ahead of BAA.

Paget Lions came from behind to earn their second win of the season at Southampton Oval yesterday, beating Young Men’s Social Club 2-1.

The visiting side went ahead midway through the first half when versatile Kelvon Butterfield scored after Paget’s defence failed to deal with a cross in the area.

However, Social Club’s joy was short-lived as Y-Ron Astwood, the Paget striker, levelled the scores with a brilliant solo effort. Astwood evaded two tackles and then stroked the ball home with aplomb to send both teams into the dressing room at the half on equal terms.

Jahniya Richardson, the Paget midfielder, scored the winner from the penalty spot around the 75th minute after fellow midfielder Quincy Simmons was brought down in the box.

Delighted with his club’s performance, Mike Stovell, the Paget president, said: “Today’s victory was a total team effort. Things are looking up going forward under the guidance of coaches Brian Iris and Peter Philpott.”

In the other match, Somerset Eagles beat Ireland Island Rangers 1-0 with Khimo Harrison scoring.
