Volleyball team named for Jersey
The Bermuda Volleyball Association has named their men’s and women’s indoor volleyball teams for the NatWest Island Games in Jersey.
The men’s team includes a number of fresh faces who will be looking to improve upon the bronze medal they won in Bermuda two years ago.
Van McPhail, the team’s coach, said: “With our new focus on youth development we are going into each game expecting to play hard and learn a lot.
“These boys have the potential to do very well at these Games.”
The women’s team will be aiming for a podium finish, having lost the bronze medal match in three of the previous four Island Games competitions.
Juanita Blee, the team’s coach, said: “We have attempted to put together a diverse cohesive team,” said Blee, who coaches the team along with Bill Bucci.
“We have veteran players who have represented Bermuda many times working alongside of young players, some whom will represent Bermuda at this level for the first time.
“Our goal was to create a team culture where the new and younger player can work with the veteran players to everyone’s benefit.”
