5.15pm: That’s it for us as we wrap up our fourth day of coverage of the Island Games. Bermuda were unable to add any medals to their tally today but strong performances from golf, windsurfing, and basketball are setting the stage for an exciting final two days in Jersey.

5pm: Ashley Estwanik did not finish the women’s 10,000 meter race. Kim Baglietto of Gibraltar came first in 36min 23sec.

4.10pm Wrapping up a few more results from today:

Hereward Peter Dill is in eighth place in the Laser Radial sailing event with two races to go. Stephen O’Reilly sits at 17th.

Bermuda’s shooting team of Raymond Beaulne and Kevin Constable finished 16th in the Universal Trap Team final.

Andrew Pereira and Terence Madeiros sit at 15th and 24th, respectively, in the English Skeet Individual final with two rounds to go.

Nelson Chesterfield Simons is in 12 in the Fullbore Queens shooting event.

3.50pm: Ryan Wilson came seventh in the men’s 3000m Steeplechase final with a time of 10min 10.88sec. Up next is Ashley Estwanik in the women’s 10,000 metres.

3.20pm: Gavin Manders and David Thomas, Bermuda’s top doubles pair and last hope in the tennis competition, lost to Dominic McLuskey and Patrick Ogier. The pair put up a good fight, rebounding to win the second set 6-1 after a 3-6 loss to start things off, but a loss in a tiebreaking third set sealed the win for the pair from Guenrsey.

3pm: Bernard Wade III went down to Daniel Power of Guernsey in the round of 16 to end his run in the men’s Recurve Head to Head Knockout archery event.

Meanwhile, Bermuda’s indoor volleyball men went down to Aland, losing 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, 25-9.

2.40pm: David Kendell is having the best possible day on the water on a windy day in Jersey. The sailboarder came in to today’s competition ranked fifth and ripped off three consecutive first-place finishes to jump all the way up to second. He sits one point behind Stephen Melia of Jersey in first with three races to go.

Scott Mello is also doing well today with two third place finishes and a fourth, putting him at ninth.

Rounding out Bermuda’s team, currently ranked fourth in the team event, are Matthew Wilken in 15th and Alexander Jones in 16th.

2.15pm: Emma Calow and Rowena Cespedes, Bermuda’s badminton doubles pair, bowed out of the women’s quarter-finals after losing to top seeded Kimberley Clague and Cristen Marritt of Isle of Man 21-7, 21-11.

1.45pm: David Kendell is in third in the sailboarding event after speeding to another first place finish in the eleventh race of the event. After a bit of a rocky start, Kendell has been dominant over the last few races, finishing first, fourth, second, first, and first. Scott Mello finished third in the race to jump to ninth place. There are four more races to go as Bermuda’s windsurfers heat up on the water.

1.30pm: Gavin Mander’s singles bid in the men’s tennis ended in the quarter-finals after a defeat at the hands of sixth seed Stuart Parker from host Jersey. Manders lost the first set 1-6 and the second set 6-7 after battling his way back. Manders and David Thomas are still alive in the doubles event, representing Bermuda’s last medal hope in the tennis competition.

1.15pm: Bermuda’s basketball team dominated the Faroe Islands in the last game of group play with a 70-18 win.

1pm: Bermuda’s sailboarders are enjoying an excellent day on the water, with David Kendell finishing first in the opening race of the day. The win bumps Kendell to fourth as he fights his way towards a podium finish with five races remaining. Scott Mello finished fourth, bumping his overall standing to tenth. Matthew Wilken is in 15th and Alexander Jones is 16th.

12.30pm: Bermuda’s volleyball teams are having a tough go this morning, with the beach men’s pair down to Jersey 4-1 in the second set after losing the first set. The women’s indoor group lost 3-0 to the Faroe Islands to finish 2-2 in the group stage.

Meanwhile, Bermuda’s men are in action in basketball against the Faroe Islands.

11.40am: Tennis pair Gavin Manders and David Thomas are set to face off against Pat Ogier and Dominic McLuskey in the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles after a 2-0 victory over Lionel Chipolina and Johann Valverde in the round of 16. Ogier is no stranger to the Bermuda team after he ended Thomas’s run in the singles event yesterday in their round of 16 matchup.

11.30am: Bermuda’s women’s doubles pair of Emma Calow and Rowena Cespedes are through to the quarter-finals after a tight victory over Sophie Baggott and Jane Jackson of Isle of Wight, winning 21-14, 14-21, and 21-17 in a hotly contested final set. The pair will match up against top seed Kimberley Clague and Cristen Marritt of Isle of Man in the quarter-finals later today.

11.15am: Bermuda’s golfers continued their stellar performance today in the second round of four. Will Haddrell shot 71 to join a three-way tie for first place. Damian Palanyandi is in fifth after shooting 68. Mark Phillips is tied for 12th with 150 over the first two rounds. Jarryd Dillas is in 33rd with 165.

This strong showing might bump Bermuda from second to first in the team event, with scores still being counted.

Ebonie Burgess is still leading Bermuda’s female golfers, shooting 80 this morning and placing eighth. Katrin Burnie is 18th after shooting 90, and Elizabeth Parsons and Linda Down both shot 91 to place 20th and 24th overall.

Bermuda stand at fourth in the women’s team event after yesterday’s showing, with results from today still being counted.

9am: It’s been a decent morning so far for Bermuda, with several positive results from the team’s athletes.

In the women’s 200 metres, Natasha Trott stormed to victory in her heat, posting a time of 26.32sec, while Taahira Butterfield came third in her heat to also qualify for tomorrow’s semi-final in 26.39.

Butterfield won gold in the 100 earlier this week, with Trott taking silver. Gayle Lindsay did not start her women’s 800 heat.

In the men’s singles badminton, Michael Paynter won his round of 64 match against Kasper Thy Jessen, of Gibraltar, 16-21, 21-12, 21-13, but was defeated 21-13, 21-14 by Albert Navaroo Comes, of Menorca, in the round of 32.

Also in the round of 64, Bermuda’s Rohan Pai lost 14-21, 21-16, 11-21 to Douglas Clarke, of Falkland Islands, while Matthew Nicholson was beaten 21-7, 21-8 by Brett Haining, of Shetland Islands.

Denzel Simons also crashed out in the round of 64 defeating Matthew Honner 21-8, 21-4, as did Mark Haugen who retired injured in his match against Nikki Nathansen, of Greenland.

In the women’s badminton doubles, Emma Calow and Rowena Cespedes won in a walkover to Cecilia Josefsen and Anja Skov Kjeldsen, of Greenland.
