Delivering a grand performance
Bermuda’s martial artists delivered encouraging performances at the John Chung World Cup in Reston, Virginia, at the weekend.
Skipper Ingham won the first senior forms, Kent Bean claimed the first weapons, weapons grand championship and forms grand championship, while Andrea McKey picked up first open weapons, first traditional weapons and first forms.
Kristina Ingham, the Bermuda Karate Institute school manager, said she was delighted with the displays of the Bermuda contingent.
“They did great, very good performances,” said Ingham, who has been travelling to the John Chung World Cup with her husband Skipper Ingham for the past 14 years.
“We have always had first places at the tournament. I think we did slightly better this year because Kent got two grand championships.
“The others won individual category championships.”
The Sensei Roots Invitational Shiai will be held on February 21 at the Pembroke Sunday School.
“We expect to get a turnout for that competition,” Ingham added.
