Sea Venture ruin KPMG’s play-off hopes
Sea Venture Mini Me’s wrecked KPMG’s Corporate Division play-off title hopes with an 18-6 victory to sweep the series.
Sea Venture piled up 15 runs in the first four innings to sail to an easy win against KPMG.
Scott Barnes led the Mini-Me’s by batting 4-4, but Chris Montgomery and Danny Cook were 3-4 for the victors. Dustin Luck, Brett Farlow, Derrick Holmes and Jeremy Estey were all 2-3 in the loss.
In the other half of the bracket, Butterfield & Vallis finished off Athene Warriors 17-15 to advance to the finals.
In the C Division, Buffaloes completed a two-game sweep of Super Express 13-9, 14-10. Leadoff man Jaryn Martin was 3-4 for Super Express in the first match while cleanup hitter Phillip Burgess and Sanford Seepersad were both 2-3.
Buffaloes scored ten runs in the first three innings to have enough for the win. Brent Giannone (3-3), Duncan Frith (3-4)and Eric Manfra were the big hitters for Buffaloes.
Ragamuffins also completed a whitewash, beating Shooters 12-6 and 24-16.
Deloitte won its exhibition series against Women’s team PHC Zebras with a 21-17 triumph followed up with a 27-25 win. Akanke Parsons (2-4), Kenrick Richardson (2-3, 5 RBI) and Jumane James (2-3) were the top bats for PHC in the first contest. Chris Ford (5-) was perfect at the plate for Deloitte while Nicole Andreasen, Kierra Smith, Robert Forbes and James Dockeray all had three hits in the winning effort. The other exhibition series saw co-ed side PWC down women’s team Hardknockz 24-9 to take the two-game set.
In the A/B Division series, Paraquet Flyers and Platano Power went to three games with Paraquet prevailing with a hotly contested and highly controversial 19-17 win. A missed rule interpretation by the umpire in the bottom of the seventh cost Plantano a chance for the victory.
Beach Bums levelled their B Division series against Sunglass & Watch Shop 20-18. In the other bracket, Team Smokey flamed out with a default to hand the set to FIU Scared Hitless.
The finals for all divisions except the A/B league begin tonight with PWC and Deloitte kicking things off at 6pm at the Michael Preece Softball
