Docksiders suffer first defeat of season
In the first game of the A/B semi-finals, X-Bats gave Docksiders their first loss of the year in a 10-7 victory on Sunday.
Lead-off batter Robbie Bailey (3-4) struck two home runs to pace X-Bats in the upset. Brett Furlow was 2-3 and Brian White (2-4) had a critical three-run home run for X-Bats.
Terence Corday hit a home run and was 4-4 while team-mate Danny Cook was 2-3 with a home run for Docksiders.
The next game was a blowout as Docksiders pounded X-Bats 22-1. The other half of the bracket saw Blue Wahoos bang out 20 hits as they slipped past Paraquet Flyers 20-16.
Chris Jackson and Shane Matchett were both 4-6 from the top of the order while Jeremy Etsy was 3-3 and scored a walk for Wahoos. Flyers had 24 hits, actually more than Wahoos.
Graham Frifth and Aaron Maderios were both 4-5 while Quinn Simmons (3-5) jacked one out of the park and had four RBI in the losing cause.
The B Division finals saw the Beach Bums take the first game 18-7.
The Buffaloes scored five times in the last inning as they edged Raggamuffins 13-12 to win the opening match of the C Division finals.
Cameron Madeiros, Eric Monfra and Brandon Ray all had three hits in propelling Buffaloes to the win.
Ed DeSilva almost single-handedly carried Raggamuffins, bashing four home runs in going 4-4 and plating eight RBIs. Jared Whitecross (4-5), Josh Thompson (3-5), Paul Decouto (3-5) and Dende Outerbridge (3-5) all hit well for their team.
Raggamuffins came back to level the finals with a 14-8 triumph.
Sea Venture Mini Me’s kept their unbeaten record intact as they thrashed Butterfield & Vallis Sliders 19-3 in the Corporate Division. Mini Me’s beat Butterfield & Vallis 30-7 to go up 2-0 in the series.
Hardknocks downed PHC Zebras 24-8 in the Women’s final.
In the Consolation finals, Deloitte defaulted the series to PWC. All games are held at the Michael Preece Stadium at Bernard Park.
