There were mixed results at Warwick Academy during the Bermuda School Sports Federation All Star Volleyball matches on Wednesday.

The red team were dominant in cruising to victory over the blue team in straight sets 25-11, 25-11 victory in the senior school girls match, while the blue team won two straight close sets in the senior school boys match 25-20, 25-22.

Katherine McPhee proved unstoppable with her serve in the girls match. The Warwick Academy student scored eight straight points to start the match in style for the red team.

The blue team could never recover despite the defensive efforts of Saint Agnes Academy’s Libero Cailey Longworth. The red team kept piling on the points with fine front row play from Saltus Academy’s Sy Mcpeek and Warwick Academy duo Amber Simons and teammate Zori Seymour.

The second set saw much of the same with McPhee again serving first. The score was 13-0 before the blue team could get on the scoreboard. They got into the game and finally rallied before but ultimately fell to a 25-11 defeat again in the second set.

Meanwhile, the senior boys match was much closer but the blue team was never under threat of losing the match. They led courtesy of an arsenal of hitting from Tyler Hurdle from Saltus Grammar school. The red team rallied late in the second set but it proved to be too little too late. Steven Camara from Warwick Academy was named most valuable player from the red team.

Meanwhile, Netball will be the feature at Somersfield Academy today as the 2019 Bermuda School Sports Federation All Star Netball night commences.

Primary School girls kcik off the evening at 6pm and will be followed by Middle School at 7pm and finally High School at 8pm.

Teams were split to create balanced sides and not on the usual west vs east format.

Twins From the BSSF tournament winning Berkeley Institute will square off against each other in the all star senior match.

Bermuda Netball Association senior league second top scorer Nabiilah Nasir will lead the scoring options for the red team, while Twin Kaamilah will line up for the blue team.

The blue team will have a lot of potential scoring options with Sharpshooters Selah Tuzo and Jade Johnston from Saltus Grammar School and Nisaiah Berkeley from BHS among their ranks

Defensive standouts for the blue team are Asrael Basden from CedarBridge Academy and G’Zai Dyer from Warwick Academy, while the reds will rely on BHS’ Chrysda Smith. Kezziah Smith and Kaylee Lema from The Berkeley Institute could also play a major role the red team.
