Bermuda show jumpers are preparing to compete in the 41st edition of the FEI World Jumping Challenge, which will be held on home soil.

The three competitions that comprise this year’s FEI World Jumping Challenge will be held at the National Equestrian Centre, Vesey Street, Devonshire with the first taking place on Sunday, February 17, with two follow up events on Saturday, March 2 and a week later on March 9.

The Challenge provides local jumper riders with an opportunity to compete in an international setting without having to leave Bermuda. Riders from ten different geographical zones compete over the same jumping courses designed by an FEI-appointed course designer, which this year was Rakshan Radpoor of Iran.

Bermuda’s own FEI judge Judy Hagen will judge the first two competitions, with the third and final event being judged by Sara Lynn McCartney from Trinidad and Tobago.

Ten Bermuda riders will compete in this year’s FEI World Jumping Challenge, with representation in all three jumping categories.

Bermuda enjoyed success in the 2018 instalment of the competition with Philip Correia, riding Emerson, capturing first place in the Overall Top Category “A” for the Regional Zone 10 Division. As a result, Correia qualified to compete in the finals to be held in Ecuador from September 10.
