Carrington named on ICC umpire panel
Local umpire Emmerson Carrington has been appointed to the International Panel of ICC Development Umpires, the Bermuda Cricket Board announced yesterday.
It is the second international appointment for Carrington, who was one of five umpires from Bermuda to be appointed to the ICC Americas Regional panel in January, along with Roger Dill, Steven Douglas, Oscar Andrade and Melvin Best.
Lloyd Smith, the Bermuda Cricket Board president, said: “The International Panel of ICC Development Umpires is intended to offer a career path into the Elite Panel of ICC Umpires. Emmerson’s selection reflects his longstanding experience as both a local and international official. I am confident Emmerson will represent Bermuda well on this panel and hope that this appointment will open doors for more of our local umpires.”
Douglas, who is also president of the Bermuda Cricket Umpires Association, said: “On behalf of the executive’s and members we would like to congratulate Emmerson on being the second Bermuda umpire, behind Roger Dill, to be selected to this panel,” Douglas said.
“We wish him well in his future assignments.”
